Gel repairs
Large or small, the vast majority of boats are built from GRP, or fibreglass as it is commonly known. The outer surface of this material is a hard, shiny, smooth material called Gelcoat. During the life of even the most lovingly cared for boat, an accidental knock, scrape or scratch can happen.
These can all be repaired by the skilled preparation and application of liquid gelcoat. Sometimes, this has to be blended from a variety of colours to create just the right shade to match the existing surface. The repair is then faired in to shape, cut back and polished up to a high gloss finish. These sorts of repairs can range from a small chip (finger-nail sized or even smaller) to refinishing the site of a bigger repair, or even completely re-gelling the hull.
